International Book Fair

The Nineteenth International Book Fair, Cuba 2010, will be held in Havana from February 11 to 21 under the motto “To read is to grow”. It will be dedicated to authors María del Carmen Barcia, 2003 National Social Science Prize, and Reynaldo González Zamora, 2003 National Literature Prize. Russia will be the country guest of honor. San Carlos Fortress will be the main venue of the event, while Pabellón Cuba and Rancho Boyeros Fairgrounds will be sub-venues for the second time, as well as the 46 book stores in the capital, which will open to people a week before the beginning of the Fair to offer people newly published books. The habitual pavilion Tesoro de Papel will open for the delight of children.   

This event will be extended to the Western provinces from February 24 to 28 and to the Eastern part of the country from March 3 to 7. The tickets to the Fairgrounds are being sold in the book stores of Havana, everyday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

This year Ediciones Cubanas has increased its space at La Cabaña and it will be located in different areas: A-13, books from Oceano Spanish Publishing House such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, manuals, among other offers; A-14, books from Random House, best sellers, self-help and historical books; D, children´s books; D-3, Opportunities; and D-39, Cuban literature. There will be a stand with Cuban literature and samples of the children´s projects presented at Arte en la Rampa Fairs in national currency. Cuban and children´s literature will be sold in national currency, like in previous years.

Some other activities in the Fair.

Ediciones Cubanas will be also in charge of the purchasing of books by the different organizations, it will arrange all details and needs of the foreign exhibitors and will be also in charge of the commercial and cultural activity of Pabellón Cuba, specifically reserved to sell stationery and some other stuff.

Territorial Habana Office will be in an independent vault and it will sell products from Artex, which will be located in El Morro, having also a small point of sale where you could buy school supplies, CDs, Arte en Casa Collection Line and Natural Cuba and Compay Segundo Clothing Lines.   

Album Release Day is back  

In order to revive the space created to promote artists from our catalogue and their albums, we could go every third Saturday of each month at 3:00pm to Habana Sí store, on the corner of L St. and 23rd Ave., in the heart of the city, to celebrate along with an artist or group, the release of their latest CD. We recommend it to you, don´t miss it.       

Locos por la Música

Bis Music is preparing some CDs that will call the attention of young people, although one of them will be a surprise also for seniors.

Conjunto Casino is showing again the quality of its repertoire, now with new voices and figures, young people recently graduated from music school. 

Ernesto Blanco is proposing his first CD Kilómetro Cero, referring precisely to the beginning of his soloist career. The CD includes 11 pieces with a fresh pop rock Cuban style.

CD Razones

This is the third CD by David Torrens, which stimulates auditor´s sensibility with songs more melodious, compared to the ones from previous CDs. The artist has included 15 songs of his authorship.
